Real Madrid have been involved in a transfer race for Alphonso Davies of Bayern Munich for the longest time. In fact, even back when Bayern Munich visitied the Santiago Bernabeu for the Champions League semifinal, Davies was linked back then.

However, Real Madrid were not able to secure the services of Alphonso Davies for the 2024/25 season. This is due to the Canada international being under contract at the Allianz Arena until 2025, so Bayern Munich would understandably prefer to keep him for another season at least. This is a testament to how good he is, that Bayern would prefer to keep him rather than cash in.

Still, it works out for Real Madrid. After all, Bayern Munich's latest stance will benefit Los Blancos.

Bayern Munich accept defender will leave for Real Madrid transfer

According to journalist Matteo Moretto (h/t Football España), Alphonso Davies is more likely to join Real Madrid for free in 2025, rather than join them for a transfer fee in 2024. The report added that while Bayern harboured hopes about keeping Davies beyond 2025, they have accepted the reality that Davies will leave the club on a free deal to join Real Madrid in 2025.

So, it would seem that all parties are in alignment that the best course of action is to allow Alphonso Davies to join Real Madrid in 2025. After all, the player has shown a keen desire throughout his career so far to reach the top of his game. For many players, the pinnacle of the sport is to play for Real Madrid, so the Canada international has certainly earned the honour.

This season, though, Alphonso Davies will be committed to leaving Bayern Munich with a bang. The Bavarian side has a lot of catching up to do, after losing the Bundesliga dominance to Xabi Alonso's young Bayer Leverkusen side. The Bundesliga kicks off this weekend, with Alphonso Davies expected to play a key role.

Do you think Alphonso Davies will be a success at Real Madrid?
