Bayern Munich are set to lose one of their best players to Real Madrid. The Real Champs revealed yesterday that Real Madrid had reached an agreement with Alphonso Davies, which could see him move to the Spanish capital either this summer for a price or next summer when his contract expires, rendering him a free agent.

Of course, the excitement is in the air at Real Madrid as they are in the process of bringing in two world-class players currently, with Alphonso Davies agreeing personal terms and Kylian Mbappe edging closer to a deal.

It is important to remember, though, that there are a minimum of two sides to every story, particularly in this sport where transfers are involved. Recently, the Bayern Munich sporting director has spoken about the deal between the Bavarians and Los Blancos over Alphonso Davies.

Quoted by Managing Madrid, Bayern Munich sporting director Max Ebrel said: “Of course, it’s never nice to lose players on a free, no club wants that, not even Bayern Munich,”

Could this be a hint that Alphonso Davies is to join Real Madrid this summer? After all, this looks like the only way Bayern Munich could avoid losing him for free, given the player's heart is now elsewhere in Madrid.

Real Madrid are willing to pay a fee to sign Alphonso Davies. They do not have all their eggs in the basket of signing him on a free deal in 2025. It is likely that Florentinto Perez will attempt to push the fee down as much as possible to accommodate the Kylian Mbappe deal but regardless, Real Madrid are prepared to pay a transfer fee to sign Davies this summer.

Signing Alphonso Davies this summer would benefit all parties. While Bayern Munich wouldn't like to lose one of their best players, if they can still obtain a transfer fee from him, it would benefit them more than losing him for free. From Real Madrid's perspective, they would be signing a world-class player and giving him a full pre-season.
