Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are expected to cross paths a lot between now and the summer transfer window. For those who aren't aware, the Spanish capital is thought to be interested in signing Alphonso Davies from Bayern. However, Davies isn't the only Bayern Munich player linked with a move to Real Madrid.
Bayern Munich wantaway considers Real Madrid transfer
According to a report from Bundesliga expert Florian Plettenberg, Real Madrid have been named as one of the five clubs considered by Joshua Kimmich. The Germany international could be up for sale in the summer transfer window, with Bayern prepared to sell him if the right offer comes in. For Kimmich, his five considered clubs are Real Madrid, Barcelona, Man City, Liverpool and Arsenal.
Certainly, Kimmich is aiming high but why not? He is an exeperienced professional who has been playing at the highest level for a sustained period of time now. Kimmich is an eight-time Bundesliga champion and speculation about his future has been up in the air for a while. In fact, Kimmich reportedly fell out with Thomas Tuchel and the Bayern higher-ups last month.
In many ways, Joshua Kimmich seems like the logical next-step when Toni Kroos eventually retires or leaves Real Madrid. Not only are they countrymen, but they have similar styles of play whereby they like to dictate the midfield with their excellent passing range. While they are big boots to fill, the 29-year-old Joshua Kimmich could certainly fill them.
It would be interesting to see how this move coincides with Real Madrid's pursuit of Alphonso Davies. It is merely speculation at this early stage of the saga, but it wouldn't be surprising to see Florentino Perez come up with a master-plan, convincing Bayern Munich to let both of their star players sign for Real Madrid. Time will tell in that regard, though.
Do you think Real Madrid should sign Joshua Kimmich?
