Brexit prevents Real Madrid from making a new English addition

Real Madrid have been denied the opportunity to add to Carlo Ancelotti's backroom staff, with Brexit rules preventing a new English hire.
Real Madrid is the biggest club in the world and therefore, the dream destination for football staff at every level. It is widely documented that players dream of representing Real Madrid but even the likes of managers and coaches would also love to work in the Spanish capital.
This was certainly the case for current Stockport County assistant coach Andy Mangan. Only joining Stockport in July 2024, Mangan was handed an opportunity to fly out to Real Madrid just a couple of months after.
However, Real Madrid have been denied the right to hire Mangan due to Brexit protocol.

According to a report from The Times, Andy Mangan is unable to secure a work permit. Post-Brexit (the United Kingdom leaving the European Union), it can take up to nine months to secure a work permit and the protocol is more complicated compared with other European hires.
Andy Mangan achieved his UEFA coaching badges alongside Carlo Ancelotti's son, Davide. This, according to The Guardian, could have been a pull-factor for Mangan, since Davide Ancelotti is an assistant manager for Real Madrid.
At this stage, little has been achieved in Andy Mangan's coaching career. However, Real Madrid would have been quite the platform to success, hence his willingness to join despite only joining Stockport this summer.
Indeed, Mangan could have gone from the third tier of English football to helping out Carlo Ancelotti in the UEFA Champions League.
Still, this is not to take away from Stockport County. They have started the League One season well and sit second in the table, only bettered by Wrexham.
Potentially, Mangan could be considered by Real Madrid for the future. But for now at least, he will continue to hone his craft in England.
