Chelsea are a club in need of a world-class striker perhaps more than any other team in Europe right now. Overall, the Blues have improved under the management of Mauricio Pochettino but they remain mediocre due to their inefficiency in front of goal. And it looks like they have set their eyes on a player also linked with Real Madrid.

Of course, Real Madrid are yet to find their long-term number 9 as well. Surely the club will not continue filling that gap by playing Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo, both of whom are natural wingers, more centrally for years to come.

One of Europe's best strikers right now is considered to be Victor Osimhen. Last season, he helped Napoli to their first Scudetto since the time of Diego Maradona at the club.

Osimhen's future at Napoli is uncertain though. There is rumoured to be a €130 million release clause that will become active in his contract next summer. Based on the modern-day transfer market, that is a reasonable fee for one of Europe's best strikers.

As reported by GIVEMESPORT, Chelsea fear interest from Real Madrid for Osimhen. But sources in Spain insist he is not currently a key target.

To be honest, while Osimhen has been a talisman for Napoli, there are some question marks around his overall game as well. He is not the best finisher, to say the least. We have seen that at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations, as he has missed some absolute sitters while representing Nigeria.

In fact, Romelu Lukaku, who is on loan at AS Roma from Chelsea, has scored almost twice as many goals as Osimhen this season so far. So, the Blues have to be completely sure before making a move of that magnitude.

As for Real Madrid, the club's recruitment has been excellent. While they have not made a lot of signings in recent years, the ones they have made have made have been spot-on. So, the fans will trust their view of the Osimhen situation.
