Chelsea have continued to struggle since their change in ownership despite making record investments into their squad. Most people feel that one of the key mistakes the club have made is that they have focused completely on bringing in highly-rated youngsters and are lacking experience right now. Could one Real Madrid legend bring that to Mauricio Pochettino's side this January?

A lot of data surrounding Chelsea this season is promising. Their major weakness though is their inability to find the back of the net.

Neither Nicolas Jackson nor Armando Broja have taken their chances in front of goal. On the other hand, Christopher Nkunku has spent the majority of the campaign dealing with injuries.

So, Chelsea could do with a proven goalscorer right now. Could Karim Benzema be the solution to their problems in front of goal?

As reported by ESPN, Benzema is exploring his options in the January transfer window after just six months at Al-Ittihad. The Premier League could be an option for the Frenchman, with multiple clubs, including Chelsea, showing interest in the striker.

A return to Real Madrid has been rumoured but feels unlikely. Someone like Benzema could be perfect for Chelsea though.

He would be a short-term solution for them, and it would also mean that they can wait till the summer before trying to bring in their long-term number 9. Players like Victor Osimhen, Evan Ferguson, Dusan Vlahovic and several others are believed to be on their radar.

Benzema is a reliable goalscorer as well, which is what Chelsea need right now. Even at Al-Ittihad, his numbers are pretty decent and he scored 31 goals for Real Madrid last season, despite dealing with fitness issues throughout the campaign. So, if the chance is there, signing the Frenchman would be a no-brainer for the Blues, even though he is 36 years old.
