Real Madrid have signed a lot of players from Chelsea in recent years. Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois were signed on a permanent basis. The former never found his old form while the latter went on to establish himself as the best goalkeeper in the world. Kepa Arrizabalaga was brought in on loan from the Premier League club in the summer when the Belgian suffered an ACL injury.

Kepa was the starting goalkeeper for Real Madrid until he picked up an injury himself. It was a minor problem and he was back a few weeks later.

But by then, Andriy Lunin had gotten a run of games in the starting XI and proven his mettle. On the other hand, Kepa struggled to deliver his best upon returning.

As a result, Lunin appears to have moved ahead of Kepa in the pecking order at Real Madrid and is their new number. But his long-term future at the club remains in doubt.

Before his recent run of form, Lunin was expected to leave next summer. That could still happen though. Would he want to stay at Santiago Bernabeu knowing Courtois will be the starter when he is back or would he want to join a top club after raising interest in his signature following a good run of form at Real Madrid?

As reported by Todofichajes, Chelsea have set their eyes on Lunin. They are looking for someone to compete for the starting position with Robert Sanchez. The Blues are willing to part with Kepa to bring in the 24-year-old Real Madrid goalkeeper.

It remains to be seen whether a move to Chelsea materialises for Lunin or not. In many ways, it could be the perfect solution for all parties involved, if the 24-year-old does not want to continue in the Spanish capital.
