Real Madrid have not been the most active team in recent transfer windows but that has not stopped them from being linked with some of the most highly-rated players in the world. One position where they might genuinely be looking to strengthen in the summer though is left-back, an area which has been a problem for the club for some time.

Ferland Mendy has impressed when he has been on the pitch. That does not mean that one can just ignore his significant injury history though. His future at the club is in doubt.

On the other hand, Fran Garcia has not managed to meet expectations since joining from Rayo Vallecano. And under these circumstances, Real Madrid might have to sign another left-back soon.

When it comes to left-backs, very few have the potential of Alphonso Davies. And Real Madrid might have the perfect chance to sign him, with talks over a contract extension with Bayern Munich believed to be complicated. The Spanish giants are not the only ones keeping an eye on the Canadian international though.

As reported by Fichajes, Chelsea have set their sights on Davies. The Blues appear ready to make an effort to sign him.

Chelsea's left-back situation has been a problem for a while. Ben Chilwell is their best option there but has a history of injury problems. Marc Cucurella never managed to meet expectations following his high-profile move. Both are currently out injured.

The situation has meant that Levi Colwill has had to constantly play at left-back this season despite being one of the best young centre-backs in the game. And unsurprisingly, Chelsea seem to be looking for a solution.

All that being said, considering how things have gone for Chelsea over the last two seasons, would someone like Davies want to join them? Or would he want to sign for Europe's most in-form team in Real Madrid?
