The Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid rumours have been picking up momentum since it emerged that the Frenchman has let PSG know of his decision to leave the club in the summer. That means that he will be available as a free agent and while the opportunity to sign arguably the world's best player does not come around often, there do not seem to be many clubs in the running for his signature.

The likes of Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal have all been loosely linked with Mbappe in recent months. Nothing concrete has come out of the rumours though.

On the other hand, it looks like Real Madrid have been taking major steps in getting a deal done for Mbappe. Some outlets have even suggested that an agreement has already been reached between the two parties.

Amid all this, Eduardo Camavinga appears to have dropped a potential hint about Mbappe potentially joining Real Madrid in the near future. As tweeted by Madrid Xtra, the versatile French midfielder said:

"The fact that there is always a French player at Real Madrid shows how many good French players there are. I hope we can have more of them here with us soon (smiles)."

Of course, the timing of the comment is very interesting. It is very possible that people might be reading a bit too much into things but then, that might not be a case after all. Many will point towards Aurelien Tchouameni's cryptic 'popcorn' emoji tweet as well.

Whether Mbappe ends up joining Real Madrid or not remains to be seen. But all the signs seem to be pointing in that direction at this point. If it does not happen this time around, it never might.

For the time being, the focus has to remain on the season at hand. Real Madrid still have a lot to play for and cannot afford to get distracted by the Mbappe speculation. La Liga and the Champions League are still up for grabs.
