Real Madrid are having a splendid season, as always. Carlo Ancelotti has established a six-point gap at the top of the table, separating them from Girona in second. Furthermore, his side are doing great in Europe as they have an advantage heading into the 2nd leg of the UEFA Champions League.

However, there are certain elements about the club which remain uncertain heading into the new season. To narrow it down, they have some ageing players at the club whose futures must be addressed before it becomes too late. While there are some players Ancelotti plans to sell, there are undeniably some he has to keep.

One of those players is Luka Modric, who Carlo Ancelotti has expressed a desire to keep. According to Bild, Luka Modric was offered the chance to stay in Madrid beyond his contract expiry date (this summer), but the Croatian midfielder has rejected this offer. While the report does state that Modric is still open to accepting the offer, for the time being, he refuses to commit.

The offer proposed to Luka Modric is to stay at Real Madrid would involve joining Carlo Ancelotti's coaching team. This is not something which interests Modric at this stage.

Luke Modric has already established himself as a club legend but he is not a sure-starter in Madrid anymore. According to WhoScored, Luke Modric has made just 16 starts for Real Madrid across all competitions this season, coming off the bench a separate 12 times.

Therefore, it is understandable why Modric is unhappy about his current situation and would like for it to be rectified. From the club's perspective, though, they have a flurry of midfielders, some of which are youngsters who are given game time to develop. They cannot make false promises to give Modric more game time.

Do you think Luke Modric will leave Real Madrid at the end of the season?
