Currently, there is an eight point gap between Real Madrid at the top of La Liga table and Barcelona in third. Although the two historic teams have had different fates this season, there still seems to be the usual competitive spark in the transfer window.

Real Madrid plan to have a big summer, having banked their cash in recent transfer windows by not spending over the top. Barcelona, however, may need to be more frugal with financial enforcers breathing down their neck.

A major story has developed between the two clubs as they appeared to be chasing the same player. The confusion developed because the agent of a Real Madrid transfer target, Alphonso Davies, was spotted in Barcelona.

Speaking on the situation, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the agent was in Barcelona. However, according to Caught Offside, Romano isn't aware of any concrete talks between Barcelona and Alphonso Davies, so it's likely that his agent being in Barcelona can be explained as a mere coincidence.

Alphonso Davies is one of the best young players in the world. Ageing at 23 years old, he may be looking for his next career challenge. Times are uncertain at Bayern Munich at the moment, as the Bavarian giants are struggling to find their competitive spark under Thomas Tuchel.

Since Davies' contract runs out in the summer of 2025, time is ticking. If he doesn't sign a contract extension between now and the end of the season, Bayern may feel like their best course of action is to sell the Canadian international.

Known for his rapid pace and attacking spark, he would be the perfect player to come in and improve the young core Carlo Ancelotti is aiming to build. If Mbappe does sign, their attack will be sorted for many years to come but with the likes of Marcos Alonso, Nacho Fernandez, David Alaba and Dani Carvajal all getting older, it makes sense for Don Carlo to target young defenders like Davies.

In other news, Real Madrid are also linked with a move for their former youth prodigy Achraf Hakimi.
