The Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid transfer saga appears to have entered its final chapter, after running for years. The Frenchman will be leaving Paris Saint-Germain at the end of this season. His next destination is not clear yet and there have been links with clubs like Liverpool and Manchester City. Most people consider Los Blancos as the overwhelming favourites in the race for the World Cup winner though and understandably so.

Some sources have even claimed that an agreement between Mbappe and Real Madrid is already in place. It remains to be seen how accurate that turns out to be.

There have been plenty of twists and turns in this saga over the past several years, so Real Madrid fans cannot take anything for granted until an official announcement is made. There is another positive update on the situation though.

As reported by CaughtOffside, Fabrizio Romano said about Mbappe while speaking to their to The Debrief Podcast:

"At the moment Mbappe is only negotiating with Real Madrid, I’m not aware of anything with any other clubs. Of course as a free agent it remains open, but it seems very clear that Real Madrid is the clear direction of this deal."

It would be a major surprise if Real Madrid cannot get a deal for Mbappe done this time around. All the signs seem to be pointing towards him wearing the famous Royal White jersey next season.

Such a move would be beneficial to not only Real Madrid but Mbappe as well. To be very honest, his career at the club level has stagnated over the past few years, with PSG struggling to contend for the Champions League.

Real Madrid, on the other hand, have remained one of the best in Europe despite their lack of depth and options. At Santiago Bernabeu, Mbappe can expect to compete for the Champions League consistently. And it should boost his popularity all over the world as well, considering the global fanbase that Los Blancos have.
