Former Real Madrid star bizarrely takes dig at Cristiano Ronaldo

Real Madrid is supposed to be a family. So, it's a shame that one former Real Madrid player has taken an unnecessary dig at an all-time great, Cristiano Ronaldo.
It is up for debate whether Cristiano Ronaldo is the greatest player of all-time. However, nobody can deny he is Real Madrid's best player of all-time.
The Portugal international continuously set a new standard during his time in Europe. He played for three European teams, including Sporting, Manchester United and Real Madrid.
Without a shadow of a doubt, his best days were spent at Real Madrid. Signing for Los Blancos in 2009, Ronaldo broke countless records and established himself as a legend in the game.
So, why has a former Real Madrid player scathed him?
Former Real Madrid star bizarrely takes dig at Cristiano Ronaldo
Speaking to El Futbol podcast, former Real Madrid player Antonio Cassano said: "Cristiano Ronaldo doesn't know how to play football. He could score 3,000 goals, I don't give a f***."
Needless to say, these comments are unnecessary and frankly wrong. It is undisputed that Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the greatest players of all-time, if not THE best. Scoring 900 career goals has to count for something.
Cassano then, unfortunately, continued: "Higuain, Aguero, Benzema, Lewandowski, Ibrahimovic and Suarez knew how to link-up with the team. They knew how to do a lot of things, unlike Ronaldo whose only objective has always been to score."
To say that Ronaldo's only objective is to score goals is incredibly reductive, firstly. Secondly, even if that was his only objective, what harm does it cause? In case Cassano needs a reminder, the entire premise of this sport is to score goals.
Football is an opinionated spot. However, in the current media landscape, those opinions can become outlandish. After all, Cassano's comments have got Real Madrid fans talking which might be his aim.
If reactions were not his aim then, let's face it, Cassano is jealous. You'd be hard-pressed to find a Real Madrid who can remember Cassano. Every Real Madrid fan remembers CR7, on the other hand.
Cristiano Ronaldo will not take concern from these comments. He has proven everything he needs to prove in the sport, yet continues to score goals for club and country.
His legacy is undeniable. He has changed the standard of the sport forever and while no player is perfect, Ronaldo is the closest thing to perfect.
