Real Madrid have a very strange predicament in their defence, particularly the left-back position. It's a position which is current occupied by Ferland Mendy mainly, with Fran Garcia providing sufficient backup. However, Carlo Ancelotti would still like to strengthen in this position, ideally by signing Alphonso Davies, if not this summer then in 2025.

This will obviously result in both Mendy and Garcia feeling underappreciated for their work. Both players are good enough to start for Real Madrid. However, such is the nature of the sport, particularly when coached by a high-achieving manager, that there is always a way to improve a position which hasn't yet become a detriment.

According to a new report from Mundo Deportivo, back-up left-back Fran Garcia could be tempted by a move to the Premier League, with Brentford showing a keen interest in signing him. Now coached by Andoni Iraola, who knows Fran Garcia well from their Rayo Vallecano days, Brentford would certainly like to sign Fran Garcia from Real Madrid and so they are monitoring his situation

Brentford are still recovering from losing their loaned player Sergio Reguilon (who Real Madrid fans will know well), with the Spaniard now returning to Tottenham Hotspur after his successful loan at Brentford.

Therefore, a golden opportunity may have presented itself to Fran Garcia to reunite with his former coach in an exciting Premier League project. Of course, Real Madrid is the most exciting club in the world but the ripple effect of signing Alphonso Davies would render Fran Garcia to third in the left-back pecking order, not good for his development.

Fran Garcia is 24, so would ideally like to be playing each week in the starting lineup. This cannot be promised at Real Madrid, with Ferland Mendy proving to be the current best option. Therefore, it would be understandable if Garcia took up the move (especially if Davies is signed) and there would be no hard feelings with the full-back.
