Real Madrid are always looking to strengthen their squad without having to shell out astronomical transfer fees. Considering that they are the defending Champions League and La Liga holders, one cannot deny that they have been very successful in making that happen in recent years. Kylian Mbappe, arguably the best player in the world, arrived for nothing recently after his PSG contract ran out. And could Los Blancos end up signing another high-profile free agent next summer?

Well, the player in question is Trent Alexander-Arnold. The Liverpool right-back's current deal is set to run out next summer.

We have seen this story unfold a few times before. Alphonso Davies finds himself in the same situation at Bayern Munich. Now the question is, will Trent extend his stay at his boyhood club or aim for a move to Real Madrid?

Graeme Souness appears to believe that the presence of Jude Bellingham could help Real Madrid in signing Trent. As reported by Fichajes, in an interview, the pundit said:

"This is just a guess, but with his friend Bellingham in the team, I see Trent at Real Madrid."

Trent and Bellingham are great friends. It is believed that the two went on holiday together after the EUROs this summer.

Trent only added to the speculation by signing a Real Madrid shirt for a fan while on holiday. Now, it remains to be seen how this saga plays out over the coming months.

More often than not, Real Madrid are successful in signing a player that they really want. Will that be the case when it comes to Trent as well?

There have been question marks over the defensive side of Trent's game for years but going forward, he is one of the most impactful full-backs in history. The Liverpool hero could be a long-term replacement for Dani Carvajal at Real Madrid, with the Spaniard 32 years of age now.
