Trent Alexander-Arnold's future has been a topic of heavy discussion in recent weeks. The English right-back came through the ranks at Liverpool and has established himself as an absolute hero for the club, winning everything possible with them. But he has only a year left on his current deal at Anfield. So, there is naturally some uncertainty surrounding his situation and Real Madrid have been linked with a move for the England international.

Trent is great friends with Jude Bellingham. Also, the Liverpool player was pictured signing a Real Madrid shirt while on holiday this summer, further adding to the speculation about a possible move to Santiago Bernabeu. And we all know that Los Blancos could do with a long-term replacement for Dani Carvajal.

Real Madrid have found a lot of success in recent years when it comes to free transfers. Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba arrived for nothing. Kylian Mbappe did the same this summer, bringing an end to the long-running saga, after his PSG contract ran out.

Of course, Liverpool would not want to see one of their best players leave, especially in his prime and as a free agent. So, they are not sitting still either.

As reported by Football Insider, Liverpool have held talks with Trent about signing a new contract with the club and progress has been made over a deal. There is confidence on both sides that an agreement will be reached within the next few months.

That is not a positive update if you are Real Madrid. But as we know, things can change quickly in football. So let's wait and see.

It is a great position if you are Trent. Liverpool want him to stay. Real Madrid are believed to want him to join. It does not get much better than that.
