Liverpool open to Trent Alexander-Arnold swap for Real Madrid superstar
Real Madrid need to sign a long-term replacement for Dani Carvajal soon. Admittedly, the Spaniard has made a bit of a comeback this season after an underwhelming 2022/23 campaign by his standards. But he is 32 years of age, and sooner or later, Father Time catches up with everyone, even all-time legends.
Real Madrid have been linked with plenty of right-backs in recent times, the majority of them playing in the Premier League. Reece James of Chelsea and Pedro Porro of Tottenham Hotspur are believed to be options under consideration at Santiago Bernabeu.
But arguably the most high-profile signing that Real Madrid could make to replace Carvajal is Trent Alexander-Arnold. The Englishman has come through the ranks at Liverpool to become a club hero.
Trent's current deal runs out in the summer of 2025 though. And surprisingly, it is rumoured that no extension talks have been held yet.
Liverpool open to Trent Alexander-Arnold swap for Real Madrid superstar
As reported by Defensa Central (via The Hard Tackle), Liverpool have thought of swapping Trent for Rodrygo. Real Madrid would be keen on the 25-year-old right-back, with the Premier League club likely to look for a Mohamed Salah replacement, although a deal has plenty of complexities attached to it.
Someone like Trent would be an excellent addition for Real Madrid. There are question marks over the defensive side of his game for sure but going forward he is arguably one of the best full-backs ever.
Would it make sense to part ways with Rodrygo though? The Brazilian is a phenomenal talent for sure but he has had a hot-and-cold season so far. For a month or so towards the end of last year, he was arguably the most in-form player on the planet. But since then, his form has dropped once again and he has not been very effective in front of goal.
