Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid seems to be all but confirmed. The Frenchman is out of contract at Paris Saint-Germain this summer and the natural progression is signing for Real Madrid. However, this Manchester City player would like to throw a spanner in the works.
Manchester City star aims to prove himself to Real Madrid ahead of Kylian Mbappe
According to a report by AS, Erling Haaland still has his mind set on signing for Real Madrid. Given that his side Manchester City will meet Los Blancos in the Champions League quarterfinal next month, he would like to use the two legs to impress Real Madrid. He hopes that he can prove himself above Kylian Mbappe.
The battle between Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland is a tight one. On the one hand, Mbappe is the most skilful of the two but there is no denying that Haaland is the best goal-scorer in the world. Ageing at just 23 years old, the Norwegian striker has already broken many goal-scoring records. It is unfathomable how many he could continue to break in La Liga.
Of course, Real Madrid have their eyes set on one man only, at the moment, and he is Mbappe. The 25-year-old is a free agent and he could go down as the best free signing of all-time, should he continue to prosper in his already fruitful career.
Will Erling Haaland make Real Madrid think twice? Of course. The deal to bring in Mbappe is not yet confirmed or finalised, so any decision could still be made at this point (based on the news presented to us officially). However, Haaland will have to seriously impress Florentino Perez who will in no doubt be watching the Champions League quarterfinal.
It is important to note that the AS report indicates that Erling Haaland had in mind to sign for Real Madrid in 2025. This remains his aim, despite his release clause allowing him to leave Manchester City as of this summer. Either way, he will play the Champions League clash as an audition to prove himself to Real Madrid over Kylian Mbappe. A truly frightening thought.
Where do you think Erling Haaland will play next?
