Real Madrid signed Kylian Mbappe this summer as a free agent, after his contract at Paris Saint-Germain ran out. It was not a swift transfer saga. It ran on for years and on numerous occasions, it looked like the World Cup winner was close to moving to the Spanish capital only for it to not materialise. Over the course of that time, the relationship between the two clubs is rumoured to have become strained as well.

That has not stopped Real Madrid from being linked with another PSG player already though. It looks like they view one of their midfielders as a potential replacement for Toni Kroos.

Kroos retired at the end of last season despite being a regular for Real Madrid and playing a major part in their La Liga and Champions League double. At the start of this campaign, it feels like they are missing his presence in the middle of the park. They did not sign a midfielder in the summer either.

A PSG player in particular is on their radar right now. As reported by Defensa Central (via Fichajes), Real Madrid will keep a close eye on Vitinha throughout the campaign with a view to making an offer at the end of the season.

It could take a transfer fee in the region of €60 million to sign Vitinha. Of course, PSG are in a strong position as he has a contract with the club until the summer of 2027.

Vitinha has been an ever-present in the middle of the park for PSG. And he impressed at the recent EUROs with his performances for Portugal as well.

It remains to be seen if Real Madrid do end up trying to sign Vitinha in the future. Any deal is not expected to be straightforward.
