Real Madrid need to add to their ranks in the heart of defence. That has been no secret for some time now. Three of their four centre-backs are past 30 years of age. Also, two of them, Eder Militao and David Alaba, suffered serious and potentially career-altering ACL injuries this season. It is not the club's strongest area by any means.

Leny Yoro is the centre-back they have been most heavily linked with. But there is going to be heavy competition for his signature and Lille are also believed to be looking for a transfer fee north of €60 million to part with the French wonderkid.

So, Real Madrid need to have alternative targets in that area of the pitch as well. One of them appears to be 18-year-old Argentine centre-back, Aaron Anselmino.

He is already playing at the first-team level for Boca Juniors. And as reported by ESPN Argentina (via Madrid Zone), Real Madrid are interested in Anselmino.

Real Madrid have an excellent record when it comes to identifying South American wonderkids and developing them into first-team superstars at Santiago Bernabeu. Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo and Fede Valverde are brilliant examples while Endrick looks destined for the top before even arriving in the Spanish capital.

Anselmino seems like a top prospect as well. He is also believed to have a very reasonable $20 million release clause in his current deal with Boca Juniors.

It remains to be seen if Real Madrid do end up making a move for the Argentine or not. There is no doubt that Yoro is someone who is more first-team ready, having already played a ton of football for Lille as a starter. But someone like Anselmino could be a great signing in the long run as well.
