Well, according to Marca, Real Madrid are confident they've found the next star. The report claims that Franco Mastantuono is of interest to Real Madrid, having sent out scouts to watch the River Plate star in action.

Ageing at just 16 years old, Mastantuono has already made nine Copa de la Liga apparances this season. His side, River Plate, are second in the table, having played 14 league matches.

While most of Mastantuono's appearances have come from the bench, the 16-year-old is impressing fans not just in Argentina, but worldwide. It is still early days, but he is showing every sign of becoming a superstar, given the right time and developmental plan.

Real Madrid, as mentioned, have a great track record of providing development plans to their young players. Sometimes, it entails representing their Real Madrid Castilla team for a short period. This is something which could definitely benefit Mastantuono.

River Plate has provided some excellent young talents to Europe in recent seasons, with Enzo Fernandez and Julian Alvarez springing to mind. At just 16, it is easy to see why Mastantuono is mentioned in the same sentence as these stars. Representing the midfield, he could be the long-term successor to Toni Kroos and Luka Modric in the Spanish capital.
