Real Madrid did what they do best, find ways to win even when they are not playing well. It had looked like Bayern Munich were going to do the unthinkable and eliminate Los Blancos from the Champions League in their own backyard. There is just some magic all over the Santiago Bernabeu on major European nights though. And that proved true once again.

Bayern Munich until the 88th minute. But Joselu, who was brought off the bench in the 81st minute and is only on loan at Real Madrid, scored a brace to send Carlo Ancelotti's side into the Champions League final.

Moments like this come around only once if that for most clubs. But for Real Madrid, it somehow transpires year after year. It is more magical than logical.

There was controversy on the night as well though, as often seems to be the case as well whenever Real Madrid and Bayern Munich meet in a high-pressure Champions League tie. Of course, this time around, it had to do with the Matthijs de Ligt 'goal' that was ruled out as a result of some questionable refereeing.

Unsurprisingly, Bayern Munich players and coaches were not happy with the decision. And to be honest, why would they be? It was confusing officiating to say the least.

Ancelotti seemed to have a clear view on the matter though. As reported by The Guardian, the Real Madrid boss said:

"If they can complain about that we can complain about the goal Nacho had disallowed."

Ultimately, the history books remember the name of the winners. On this occasion, that was Real Madrid. as they so often are in the Champions League.

Now, just one hurdle remains between them and an incredible 15th European crown. Real Madrid will be taking on Borussia Dortmund in the final, a matchup absolutely nobody would have predicted at the start, or even the middle, of the season. Yet here we are.
