Real Madrid centre-back could leave in swap deal for Alphonso Davies

Real Madrid's centre-back options are paper-thin at the moment. Both Eder Militao and David Alaba picked up long-term ACL injuries this season, leaving Antonio Rudiger and Nacho Fernandez as the only two fit centre-backs in the squad. Aurelien Tchouameni is capable of filling in in the heart of defence as well.

One player who could have made a contribution to Real Madrid this season is Rafa Marin. But he left earlier, joining Alaves on loan.

Marin has played regular football for Alaves this season and been a standout performer for them. But instead of return to Real Madrid in the summer, could he be headed for Bayern Munich?

As reported by BILD, in addition to a transfer fee, Real Madrid want to include a player in the deal for Alphonso Davies. This should be Marín.

Davies has been linked with a move to Real Madrid for a long time. And with his contract extension talks with Bayern Munich appearing to be complicated, the door could be open for Los Blancos to make something happen next summer. Chelsea and Manchester City have been linked with the Canadian international in recent times as well.

Marin could actually be an interesting option for Bayern Munich. The club could be in need of a centre-back soon, with the future of Matthijs de Ligt uncertain.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for both Davies and Marin. It is remarkable that the latter has never made a senior appearance for Real Madrid but is being linked with some of Europe's best teams.

Of course, Davies is not the only left-back Real Madrid have been linked with in recent times. But he certainly looks like the club's transfer target in that area of the pitch.
