Ronaldo is one of the greatest players to ever lace up a pair of boots. He spent several seasons playing in the Royal White jersey of Real Madrid but many believe that we never got to see him at his best at Santiago Bernabeu, due to the serious injuries he picked up while at Inter Milan. Despite that, he scored 30 goals or more in two seasons for Los Blancos and managed more than 100 goals overall while in the Spanish capital before heading to AC Milan.

Real Madrid shook up the footballing world when they signed Ronaldo in 2002. They have the chance to do the same with Kylian Mbappe next summer.

The long-running transfer saga could reach its much-awaited conclusion soon. Mbappe's current deal with PSG runs out next summer and he seems more likely to leave than to extend at this point.

Ronaldo recently had some interesting comments to make about the entire saga involving his former club and Mbappe. He is not surprised by the links though.

Ronaldo makes Mbappe to Real Madrid claim

As reported by SPORT, when questioned about the possibility of Mbappe joining Real Madrid, Ronaldo said:

"Madrid always has the best players in the world. This is a philosophy that has been maintained for many years and it is not a surprise that they continue to want the best footballers."

While Ronaldo is not aware of Mbappe's future plans, he did note that the Frenchman speaks fluent Spanish, as the Brazilian added:

"I don't know if he is going to go to Real Madrid, but it is true that he speaks almost perfect Spanish. I find it impressive how well he speaks."

Like most football fans, Ronaldo seems to have already had enough of the long-running transfer saga though, as he said:

"I don't know what's going to happen, but this is a soap opera that's getting very long."

It remains to be seen how things will play out for Mbappe and Real Madrid over the coming weeks and months. It is believed that the club want to agree a pre-contract agreement with him to move this summer, now that he is in the final six months of his deal with PSG.

Real Madrid are not the only ones who have been linked with Mbappe though. Liverpool are believed to be a possible destination for the French World Cup winner too. And considering the events of 2022, one should not rule out an extension with PSG either.
