Real Madrid clearly interested in Arsenal player
Real Madrid needed to sign a centre-back this summer and it was believed that Leny Yoro was their top transfer target. For a long time, it had looked like the French defender, dubbed the 'next Raphael Varane' was set to move to the Spanish capital. But somewhat out of the blue, Manchester United swooped in and won the race for his signature.
Real Madrid are a team who have shown that they will not make signings just for the sake of it. So, they did not make an addition at centre-back in the summer despite the departure of Nacho Fernandez and the absence of David Alaba as he recovers from injury.
It was a brave decision without doubt and let's see if it proves to be the right one. That being said, Real Madrid will need to sign another centre-back sooner or later and it looks like they have a few players on their radar already.
As reported by talkSPORT, Real Madrid chief scout Juni Calafat was at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to take a look at both Cristian Romero and William Saliba. However, it's understood that THE Arsenal defender will be the main player of interest.

Real Madrid have been linked with Saliba in recent times. And it is not hard to understand why, considering their need to sign a centre-back.
Saliba might be one of the best in the world right now. He has been a stalwart at the back for Arsenal, who have the best defence in the Premier League despite playing an exciting brand of football.
Saliba is also just 23 years of age, meaning that he is only expected to get better with time, as he gains more experience. Of course, it would take an astronomical transfer fee to convince Arsenal to part ways with him.
