Real Madrid could be in the market for a new midfielder this summer. While a lot of the focus is around Kylian Mbappe's expected arrival from PSG, Carlo Ancelotti will have other plans in mind to strengthen his squad. Given the ageing nature of the midfield and with contracts set to expire, signing a new midfielder seems like the logical next step.

But who could Real Madrid sign in the midfield? Well, there is certainly talk of Joshua Kimmich moving away from Bayern Munich. However, Real Madrid appear to be keeping their options open, as a Joshua Kimmich alternative has ALREADY been located.

Real Madrid compete with PSG for Newcastle United sensation

According to HITC, both Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain sent scouts to watch Bruno Guimaraes in action for Newcastle United. It is believed they were in attendance when Newcastle met Manchester City in the FA Cup Quarterfinal on Saturday.

Bruno Guimaraes was part of the losing team but he played the entire match, which is a common occurrence for the Brazil international. He is the most valuable player under Eddie Howe and he is a real fan favourite.

PSG, who will be Real Madrid's competitors should this transfer pursuit occur, have a little more knowledge on Bruno Guimaraes. Newcastle and PSG met twice in the Champions League group stage, with their meeting at St James Park particularly highlighting Bruno's importance.

See, the reason why Bruno was an instant hit at Newcastle is because of his incredible contrast. Not only can he meet the physical demands, but he is also graceful with the ball at his feet. Many times this season, Guimaraes has manoeuvred his way out of tight situations, whether it be through skill or barging his way through. Either way works.
