Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has some tough decisions to make in the summer transfer window. It doesn't always involve which players he will bring in, but also which players he wishes to move on in the interim period between seasons. Sometimes, two worlds collide and he must consider whether to make a permanent commitment to sign a loaned player.

One of those players who is currently at Real Madrid on loan is Vinicius Tobias. The full-back has played at Real Madrid on and off since 2022, with Real taking him on loan from Shakhtar Donetsk. Last summer, Los Blancos could not commit to signing him permanently, so Shakhtar agreed to allow them more time but this time around, Carlo Ancelotti must make his decision.

According to an update from Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid have decided to not trigger their option to buy. Instead, Vinicius Tobias will return to Shakhtar Donetsk in preparation for the 2024/25 season. Whether or not the Ukrainian club will sell Shakhtar remains to be seen but it is confirmed that he will not be a Real Madrid player for the upcoming season.

Vinicius Tobias is still just 20 years old so he has plenty of time to make a name for himself. His time at Real Madrid was not as successful as he would have hoped but he cannot let this beat him down. Instead, he should use it as a fuel for motivation. After all, everybody knows there is a gem to be unearthed in Tobias.

The Brazil international plays as a right-back, so he could have been the logical long-term solution to the ageing Dani Carvajal, who currently represents Spain at EURO 2024. However, sometimes things just don't work out, so it's good to see that Real Madrid have pulled the plug without feeling the pressure to commit. It was the kindest outcome for all parties, after all.
