Real Madrid have been home to some spectacular managers in recent years. Of course, it is remarkable what Carlo Ancelotti has been able to achieve in his second stint at Santiago Bernabeu despite facing challenging circumstances. This season, the La Liga title looks pretty much a certainty while Los Blancos have to be considered heavy favourites to go on and win their 15th Champions League as well.
If Real Madrid win the European competition, it would be Ancelotti's third with the club. One manager who has already achieved that, and did so in a row, is Zinedine Zidane.
Interestingly, Zidane has been out of management since leaving Real Madrid in 2021. It has not been due to a lack of opportunities either. But now, it looks like the Frenchman could finally be ready to return to the dugout.
Bayern Munich are believed to be interested in appointing the Frenchman as Thomas Tuchel's replacement. But as reported by L'Equipe (via The Sun), Zidane would prefer to take on the manager role at Manchester United. A language barrier would also be an issue for the manager in England, however, it would be less so than in Germany.
Real Madrid legend wants to be Manchester United manager
It will be interesting to see what the future holds for Zidane. But it does look like he is considering a return to management, after a chance to manage the France national team did not materialise.
Of course, Manchester United are a historic club and despite their struggles in recent years, one of the most popular all over the world. That being said, no manager has been able to get it right at Old Trafford since Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement. It would be a risky job for Zidane.
Winning at Bayern Munich should come much easier. But at the same time, it would be less of a challenge. Also, at this point, someone like Zidane would only be interested in jobs that excite him.
