Chelsea are a club in need of reinforcements. The club have had an unremarkable run under the management of Mauricio Pochettino till now. Yes, there have been clear improvements when compared to last season but this is still nowhere near what one expects from the two-time Champions League winners. Could a Real Madrid legend be the solution to their problems?

Chelsea's biggest problem this season has been their inability to make the most of their chances. Neither Nicolas Jackson nor Armando Broja has looked like a natural finisher, while Christopher Nkunku has spent the majority of the season dealing with injuries.

So, Chelsea could do with another striker right now. And the possibility of Karim Benzema ending up at Stamford Bridge is starting to feel real.

As reported by HITC, Benzema's future hasn’t been resolved yet after talks between the Frenchman and Al-Ittihad. His intermediaries have offered him to several clubs in Europe with one of them being Chelsea.

Signing someone like Benzema on a short-term loan deal would make a ton of sense for Chelsea. While the Frenchman might not be the player that he once was, he still is an excellent finisher.

Even last season, he managed to score 31 goals for Real Madrid across all competitions, despite dealing with fitness issues throughout the campaign. Even at Al-Ittihad, is individual scoring record is pretty good.

Of course, Benzema has never played in England. Would he be able to make the adjustment to the Premier League at 36 years of age?

Chelsea are not the only option for Benzema either. He has been linked with a return to Lyon as well, the club he joined Real Madrid from back in 2009 and whose youth ranks he came through. It is very possible that he could end up joining a different Pro League club on loan too.
