Real Madrid are coming off a Champions League and La Liga double-winning campaign and have since added Kylian Mbappe and Endrick to their squad. That must be a scary thought for opposition teams. On the other hand, there are some who played a key part in last season's successes, and have left or could leave before the window slams shut.

Of course, Toni Kroos retired at the end of last season, bringing the curtain down on a glorious career. Nacho Fernandez, another Real Madrid legend, left this summer as well.

An unexpected success story from last season was Andriy Lunin. He was expected to remain second-choice goalkeeper despite Thibaut Courtois' injury as Kepa Arrizabalaga was signed on loan from Chelsea.

Lunin ended up moving ahead of Kepa in the pecking order though and proved himself to be a top goalkeeper, helping guide Real Madrid to the La Liga title and the Champions League final. Yet, when Courtois returned to fitness late in the season, he was straight back into the starting XI even though the Ukrainian goalkeeper had barely put a foot wrong.

The message seems to be clear, Courtois is Real Madrid's number one, no matter how good Lunin was last season. Naturally, it is understandable why he has been linked with a move away, especially with just a year left on his current deal.

As tweeted by Guillermo Rai, Lunin still has a good chance of leaving Real Madrid. On the other hand, Dani Ceballos is closer to staying, even though he asked the club to leave at the beginning of the summer.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Lunin. He has been linked with top clubs like Manchester City, Arsenal and several others this summer although a Santiago Bernabeu exit has not materialised till this point.
