The summer transfer window has come and gone. It was an eventful one for Real Madrid, in terms of quality not quantity. The club signed Kylian Mbappe as a free agent after his PSG contract ran out. On the other hand, Endrick completed his move to Santiago Bernabeu. That deal had already been agreed back in late 2022.

Other than that, there were no additions. Of course, that has been the trend at Real Madrid for a few years now and it has served them well. So, why fix something that is not broken?

Some exits were expected this summer but did not take place. One of them was that of Andriy Lunin, who proved himself as a top-class goalkeeper last season in the absence of Thibaut Courtois, who spent the majority of the campaign out injured.

In Courtois' absence, Lunin helped guide Real Madrid to the La Liga title and the final of the Champions League. Yet, when the Belgian returned to fitness, he was straight back in the team while the Ukrainian goalkeeper found himself on the bench once again.

As reported by AS, Lunin will stay at Real Madrid this season. But his idea, as of today, is to leave for free in 2025. He had offers to leave this summer, but none of them convinced him, as he wanted to go to a top team where he is the starter.

To be honest, Lunin's decision to leave would be understandable if it did indeed happen. He performed at the highest level for an entire season, only to be dropped from the starting XI.

A lot of players are choosing to run down their contracts these days. Real Madrid have taken advantage of that several times in the past. Could they now see one of their own leave in similar fashion?
