Real Madrid players have had a pretty impressive showing at international tournaments so far this summer. Depending on the outcome of both EURO 2024 and the Copa America, there is a likelihood (and dare I say it, expectation) that Real Madrid players will be at the forefront of their countries' successes.

One player who has superbly stepped up to the mark is unsurprisingly Jude Bellingham. Heading into the tournament, the Real Madrid midfielder who represents his home country England was expected to be one of the players to watch. He got off to a flying start in the group stage, scoring England's first goal of the competition with a header to win their opening match.

In his final two group stage matches, with England drawing both of them, Jude Bellingham dried up. He didn't have the impact he would have liked in the final two group stage matches, which obviously led the football world to overreact.

Understandably, outlets such as The Trivela Effect had labelled Jude Bellingham as "the biggest flop of EURO 2024." This is to be expected, since the sport is so fast-paced, particularly in summer international tournaments which leave next to no room for mistakes.

However, last night in England's first knockout game, Jude Bellingham silenced those claims about him being a flop. In fact, he took the game by the scruff of the neck, scoring a spectacular overhead kick in the dying moments of the game, to save his country and send the match to extra time. Ultimately, England scored two quickfire goals, as Harry Kane assured victory early into extra time.

England fans can have no complaints about the showing from Jude Bellingham last night. As a young player with the whole world at his feet, he has carried England alongside Harry Kane, Declan Rice, Marc Guehi and Jordan Pickford. Bellingham is a large reason why England are now in the quarterfinals of the competition.

But the truth is, Real Madrid fans know all about Jude Bellingham's exploits. If anything is to be learned by this terrific turnaround of player perception, it is a lesson which Real Madrid fans knew long before the tournament; do not judge Jude Bellingham until it is over.
