Real Madrid were involved in a thrilling La Liga encounter against Villarreal at the weekend, a match which consisted of EIGHT goals. The spectacle finished four apiece but in truth, neither side had too much to fight for as Real Madrid are confirmed to finish top of the table and Villarreal are now confirmed to finish eighth in the table.

However, Carlo Ancelotti will have taken this match as a learning curve. He would've noticed the weak spots in his squad and he will be eager to fix these weaknesses in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Real Madrid want to sign Liverpool World Cup hero

The Italian boss has located Liverpool's midfielder and World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister as a potential summer transfer. However, according to The Sun, while contact has been made between the two clubs, Real Madrid are yet to submit a formal offer to sign Mac Allister.

It is believed that Alexis Mac Allister is viewed as the ideal Toni Kroos replacement. The report does reiterate that club legends Luka Modric and Toni Kroos are currently in talks about extending their stays beyond their contract expiries, both of which happening this summer. In both cases, though, the midfielders will only look to extend their current deals for a maximum of one year

Alexis Mac Allister has massively benefited from one-year of mentorship under Jurgen Klopp, who has now departed Liverpool to be replaced by Arne Slot. With this level of uncertainty at Anfield Stadium, Real Madrid could certainly benefit from bringing the World Cup winner Mac Allister to the Santiago Bernabeu.

As a player who is comfortable in possession and having the ability to drive forward in the opposition's third, Alexis Mac Allister's presence would be welcomed in the Spanish capital.

Liverpool will return to the Champions League next season, after finishing third in the Premier League. Alexis Mac Allister has never played in the Champions League but he has excellent experience at the highest level, being part of the Argentina team which won the 2022 World Cup.

Mac Allister was a key component in this team, showing that he has the winning mentality required to lift the heavy weight of the Real Madrid shirt. In many ways, he is the logical next step to replace Toni Kroos' dictation of play, when the German legend leaves Real Madrid.
