Jude Bellingham has been the best Real Madrid transfer for quite some time. The Englishman arrived in the summer and has already made an impact, proving to be an efficient and versatile midfielder who is not afraid to get stuck in amongst the goals and assists. Bellingham has scored 20 goals and provided seven assists this season - A return Carlo Ancelotti can be pleased with.
Last night, Jude Bellingham played excellently as he led the counter-attack which ensured Real Madrid went through in the Champions League. In a lacklustre attacking display from Los Blancos, Bellingham came up with the moment of quality to assist his teammate Vinicius Junior on the big stage.
However, Bellingham is not eligible to play this weekend, as Real Madrid host Celta Vigo in La Liga. This is because in the last match, Bellingham received a red card after his last-gasp goal against Valencia didn't stand due to poor time-keeping from the officiating team. Bellingham was rightfully angry, so he displayed his emotions, and received a red-card.
Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham hits out at “ridiculous” La Liga treatment
Speaking after his fine Champions League display last night, Jude Bellingham hit out at the decision, calling it "ridiculous" from La Liga's side, since they are trying to make an example of him due to him being a new player.
In his own words (quoted by ESPN), here's what Jude Bellingham said: "I didn't say anything offensive. I feel like at times because I'm new, they want to make an example [of me], which I'm cool with. I have to take responsibility for my actions. I think two games is a bit ridiculous but if I have to miss those two games, I'll support the team from the stands."
Jude Bellingham does not deserve to be punished with a two-game suspension. Emotions were understandably in the air, since he felt like he had just won the game and overturned a two-goal deficit in a tight La Liga match. But if these are the rules, Real Madrid have to abide by them.
Do you think Jude Bellingham should be punished for his reaction?
