Lionel Messi needs no introduction to Real Madrid. For many years, it was the former Barcelona man and Real Madrid legend Cristiano Ronaldo who carried the sport, placing a particular emphasis and putting Spain on the map for all to see.

The Argentine who recently won Copa America is not received well in Real Madrid. However, now that he has long-gone from arch-rivals Barcelona, Real Madrid fans can breathe a sigh of relief and appreciate how good he was. It was just unfortunate that a lot of his talent was put on display against Real Madrid, but Cristiano Ronaldo did hold his own against Barcelona too.

Real Madrid have placed a strict ban on Lionel Messi jerseys

A Spanish YouTuber, Grefg, has attempted to play the system and remind Real Madrid of Lionel Messi's fanbase. According to The Mirror, the Spanish football fan attempted to purchase a customised Real Madrid jersey, with "Messi" written on the back. However, he was soon met with an error message, which would not allow the jersey to be printed.

Even when attempting to space out the characters, so it read "M E S S I", the order was accepted, but later denied when Real Madrid saw the order. So, a loophole cannot be found and Messi fans cannot purchase a Real Madrid jersey with his name on.

In many ways, this is a good thing that Real Madrid are standing their ground. It would be a complete mockery of the club if a Barcelona legend was printed and as a club who rightfully holds themselves in high regard, Real Madrid are best-placed to not allow such jerseys to be printed.

That's not to say that fans cannot respect the hustle. Barcelona fans don't have much going for them currently, so it's not too much of a surprise they are looking at history as an excuse to mock Real Madrid fans, who live very comfortably in the present.
