Real Madrid drew their most recent game in the league, against Rayo Vallecano. Joselu scored early in the game but the hosts managed to find an equaliser around the half-hour mark. Unfortunately, Los Blancos were not able to find a second and had to share the points. Despite that, they remain in a very strong position in La Liga and the fans must be very happy with how this season is turning out for the Spanish giants, ahead of potentially signing Kylian Mbappe in the summer.
One player who does not seem to be happy with his situation though is Luka Modric. The Croatian legend started against Rayo Vallecano but that has been a rare instance this season, especially when most players have been fit and available.
Modric signed a contract extension with Real Madrid last year but has slipped down the pecking order since then. And it looks like he is not happy with that.
As reported by Relevo, Modric sees the situation very differently from that of his coach and that of Real Madrid. He is unhappy with the lack of opportunities. He is disappointed because he feels that the promises made to him in May 2023 have not been fulfilled when the handshake with the leaders took place with which his continuity for one more year was sealed.
Real Madrid superstar unhappy with his situation
The fact of the matter is that Modric is 38 years of age. He cannot remain a starter forever, especially for a club like Real Madrid.
Los Blancos have some of the most talented young midfielders in the world. Jude Bellingham, Aurelien Tchouameni, Fede Valverde and Eduardo Camavinga are all ready to start. On top of that, Toni Kroos continues to play at a high level and is four years younger than Modric.
So, it looks like Modric's time at Real Madrid will come to an end in the summer. It will be interesting to see where he goes, if he does indeed leave the Spanish capital.
