Real Madrid are on the verge of winning another historic double. The La Liga title is already in the bag and they got there pretty comfortably. On the other hand, they are also in the Champions League final, where they will taking on Borussia Dortmund. Yet, Los Blancos could potentially sign the best player in the world to get even stronger.

That player is none other than Kylian Mbappe. The Frenchman has already announced that he will be leaving PSG at the end of the season.

Where will he go? Well, it would be a major surprise if the answer to that question does not turn out to be Real Madrid. For years, there have been links and it looks like the move is finally set to happen this summer.

Do Real Madrid really need him though? Having every great player in the world is not always the key to winning. We saw that with the Galacticos. And we saw that at PSG as well, who had Mbappe, Neymar and Lionel Messi at the same time but could not come close to challenging for the Champions League.

Real Madrid told 23-year-old is ahead of Kylian Mbappe

While Mbappe is a global superstar and a World Cup winner, Vinicius Junior is making a case for being the best player in the world as well. As reported by AS, Rivaldo said:

"Taking into account what he is doing at Real Madrid, he is undoubtedly the most important player today."

Rivaldo also tipped Vinicius for a potential Ballon d'Or triumph as he said:

"Vinicius has a great chance of being awarded the Ballon d'Or. He is already doing very well, he already deserved to be there last season. He is now among the three best players in the world. And this year, with what he is doing at Real Madrid, with the way he plays... he undoubtedly has a good chance of being the best player in the world. And beat Mbappé in that trophy."

Of course, if Real Madrid are successful in winning the Champions League then Vinicius would be the favourite to win next year's Ballon d'Or. However, one must point out the importance of the two upcoming international tournaments as well, the EUROs and the Copa America.

It would be interesting to see how Carlo Ancelotti plays Vinicius and Mbappe together if the Frenchman does end up joining Real Madrid. It would be a tough problem for sure but if there is one manager who can solve it, it is the Italian maestro.
