The upcoming summer transfer window is expected to be an interesting one for Real Madrid. Once again, the club did not strengthen in the winter despite a lack of depth and injury problems. They might have big plans for the future though. The Kylian Mbappe rumours have been picking up a lot of momentum in recent weeks. But it looks like there are other areas where Los Blancos have their eyes set as well.

Real Madrid are clearly building a team for now and the future. In the department, it does feel like the defensive department is a bit behind.

Other than Eder Militao, it is hard to think of a defender at the club right now, who has the potential to be a key player for Real Madrid for the next decade to come. The likes of Antonio Rudiger, Nacho, David Alaba and Dani Carvajal are all past 30 years of age. On the other hand, there are major question marks over Ferland Mendy's long-term future at Santiago Bernabeu.

Thus, Real Madrid could look to strengthen their defence next summer. And there seem to be a couple of highly-rated defenders on their radar at the moment.

Real Madrid's top three targets for next summer

As reported by MARCA, Real Madrid have already set the main objectives for the next summer window. Three names appear, that of Mbappe, Alphonso Davies and Lenny Yoro.

Davies has been linked with a move to Real Madrid for quite some time now. He might be the perfect long-term left-back for the club. And if Bayern Munich are unable to agree an extension with him soon, they could very well be open to the idea of the Canadian international leaving.

Yoro has enjoyed a meteoric rise at Lille. The youngster is being dubbed the 'Next Raphael Varane' and it could take a €60 million transfer fee to sign him.
