Real Madrid are the best club in the world with the richest history of any club in history. Unlike some of their other former competitors, they have maintained their status as top dogs and if anything, they only seem to be improving as a club.

A large part of the progress made in the 21st century has come down to having Florentino Perez as the club president and the new transfer strategy he has adopted. Despite hosting some of the best players throughout history, Real Madrid are never known to be frivolous spenders in the transfer market.

Indeed, Florentino Perez is afforded the luxury of taking a back seat in transfer proceedings, allowing the players to essentially come to Real Madrid first. After all, for all the reasons outlined early into this article, the dream of most players is to play for Real Madrid, so they often present themselves to the great club.

Of course, this is going to cause a sense of jealousy and hatred from other clubs in Europe. Particularly since whenever clubs are contesting with Real Madrid in the transfer window, they will often lose to the players' preferences.

Over the last few days, there has been an uproar on social media about the way in which Real Madrid go about their transfer business. A sense of jealousy which has been brewing for Real Madrid for a long time seems to have reached boiling point.

Such is the nature of social media, that when an opinion is portrayed about a certain club or any individual within the sport, that opinion is leeched onto, until the next toxic message is portrayed.

Here are some of the furthest spread messages on X regarding the Real Madrid transfer strategy over the last week...

Opinions on social media should always be taken with a pinch of salt, particularly on X. However, the opinions about Real Madrid's transfer policy of late have certainly raised an interesting topic of discussion. So far, though, the debate has been incredibly one sided.

Looking at Real Madrid's transfer policy from a glass-half-full perspective, if you were to offer any other club the opportunity to sign the best players in the world on constant free deals, they would happily take it. The truth is, if those other clubs worked as hard as Real Madrid have throughout history to maintain their position at the top, they would be afforded the same luxury.

Long story short, there is no such thing as a wrong opinion. However, context needs to be taken into account. Why on earth should Real Madrid pay extortionate transfer fees when the player would happily play out their contract to join on a free deal?
