Manchester City are a team against whom Rodrygo has enjoyed some of the greatest moments of his career so far. Interestingly, he has been linked with a move to Pep Guardiola's side in recent days with the Citizens saying goodbye to Julian Alvarez, who is moving to Real Madrid's crosstown rivals, Atletico Madrid, this summer.
Someone like Rodrygo would be a natural replacement for Alvarez at Manchester City. And following the arrival of Kylian Mbappe at Santiago Bernabeu this summer, there are certainly some questions marks over his role in Carlo Ancelotti's team moving forward.
The biggest problem for Rodrygo has been his lack of consistency. He has patches of form when he performs like one of the best players in the world but then also periods of time when he simply cannot affect a game in the final third of the pitch.
The talent is clear to see and hopefully the consistency will come in time, just like it did with Vinicius Jr. The good news is that it does not seem like Rodrygo is considering leaving Real Madrid at the moment.
Rodrygo makes Real Madrid exit decision amid Man City links
As reported by AS, Rodrygo does not want to hear about leaving the Santiago Bernabeu. With a contract until 2028, he is happy and departing is not on his mind.
Not too long ago, there speculation about a swap deal involving Rodrygo and Alvarez. Of course, that did not materialise although the Argentine did end up in Madrid, just on the other side.
For the time being, Real Madrid should not considering parting ways with someone as important as him, although Ancelotti has a lot to think about when it comes to his system. Perhaps going back to a 4-3-3 would be the best solution, with a fluid front three of Vinicius, Rodrygo and Mbappe.
