Thomas Tuchel slams Bayern Munich player after Real Madrid game
There was nothing to separate Real Madrid and Bayern Munich after the first leg of their Champions League semi-final tie away in Germany. One could argue that Thomas Tuchel's side were the better team on the day but they could make the most of it. And sometimes, that is what football is all about, as Los Blancos have shown time after time.
It was actually Carlo Ancelotti's team who took the lead. against the run of play, thanks to some brilliant work from Toni Kroos, which set up Vinicius Junior to score. Bayern Munich did turn it around in the second half though, with the goals coming from Leroy Sane and Harry Kane.
But then Real Madrid found a way back into the game, as Bayern Munich ended up conceded a penalty. Vinicius made no mistake from the spot and secured the draw.
One Bayern Munich player who seemed to play a role in both of Real Madrid's goals was Kim Min-jae. For the first goal, the South Korean centre-back tried to press Vinicius by stepping out of defence but in the process, ended up opening up a lot of space at the back. The Brazilian made the most of it when Kroos played a smart through ball and the defender's pace was no match for him. For the second, he inexplicably fouled Rodrygo in the box despite having a cover option behind him.

Tuchel did not seem to be impressed with what he saw from Kim on the day. As tweeted by iMiaSanMia, he said:
"He was too 'greedy' twice. He made the first move too early against Vinicius in the first goal and got caught by Toni Kroos' pass. He speculated and was too aggressive. In the second goal, unfortunately it was another mistake. We were 5 against 2, we had the numbers. There was no need to defend that aggressively against Rodrygo. The moment Eric was about to help, he [Kim] brought him [Rodrygo] down. Unfortunately with their quality, these mistakes get punished. But well, it happens. We have to move on."
Kim, who had been the best defender in Italy last season as Napoli won the Serie A, has had a tougher time since his move to Bayern Munich. And if Matthijs de Ligt was fit, the South Korean international probably would not have started against Real Madrid.
Of course, Real Madrid fans will not be complaining. Despite Ancelotti's side being nowhere near their best, they were able to get a draw in Bayern Munich's backyard. As a result, the tie will be in their control when they welcome Tuchel's team to Santiago Bernabeu. Of course, he has coached Chelsea to a win there in the past, so Los Blancos cannot take anything for granted. They might have the advantage, but things are far from over.
