Tottenham Hotspur are the home to one Real Madrid transfer target, the recent Copa America winner Cristian Romero. The Argentine centre-back is viewed by many as the ideal Leny Yoro alternative, after Real Madrid unfortunately missed out on his transfer, since he joined Man United instead.

However, Real Madrid are aware they will face a tough negotiation period. Daniel Levy, the current chairman of Tottenham Hotspur, is known to be one of the most difficult businessmen to negotiate with in this sport, as he more often than not drives a hard bargain and is an impossible nut to crack.

Tottenham set ridiculous €175m valuation for Real Madrid transfer target

According to an update from trusted Tottenham Hotspur source Paul O Keefe (speaking on the Last Word on Spurs podcast), Daniel Levy has informed Real Madrid they must pay £150m (€175m) if they want to sign Cristian Romero. Since the 26-year-old is under contract in North London for another three years, the power truly is in Tottenham's hands.

Cristian Romero is a fan favourite at Tottenham Hotspur. The Argentine centre back certainly has disciplinary issues but nobody can question his desire to fight for the badge. He is a well-liked character for his work-rate, which even saw him score 5 Premier League goals from centre-back last season.

For Real Madrid, they should not feel desperate to sign a centre back. After all, Antonio Rudiger is at the top of his game and Eder Militao is hoping to get back to his best after a long injury last season. That said, Carlo Ancelotti likely sees the necessity to replace Nacho Fernandez, which is understandable considering he's a club legend.

However, €175m is not an accurate representation of Cristian Romero's qualities. Therefore, Real Madrid should of course test the waters, but if Daniel Levy is actually serious about this ridiculous valuation, then it's best for Real Madrid to look elsewhere. Unfortunately, it truly is that simple. Romero is not worth anywhere close to that valuation.
