Real Madrid tried to sign a Tottenham Hotspur star in 2024 but failed. Now, he is believed to be open to a future Real Madrid transfer.

Real Madrid will be active in the next summer transfer window. They bankrolled some transfer budget, after waiting to sign Kylian Mbappe on a free deal.

In the 2024 summer transfer window, Real Madrid did not invest into their defence. This was despite coming close to signing Leny Yoro. So, Carlo Ancelotti will want to sign some defenders in the next available transfer window.

Thankfully for Don Carlo, one of his primary transfer targets, currently playing for Tottenham Hotspur, is open to joining Real Madrid, should they continue their transfer pursuit in due course.

According to a new report from Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur Cristian Romero is open to joining Real Madrid in the future. It is believed that Real Madrid will pursue Romero in 2025.

Romero will decide on whether to stay at Tottenham Hotspur based on the club's ambition. This means that the door is essentially open for Real Madrid to sign him, should his decision swing in their favour.

Managed by Ange Postecoglou, Tottenham are tipped to return to their glory days. However, Spurs have not shown any signs of improvement. In fact, they have won only one Premier League game so far this season.

Ange Postecoglou mentioned to the media recently that he always wins trophies in his second season. This has been misconstrued by English football fans as rude, but he is stating a proven fact.

So, if Ange Postecoglou's claim rings true again and he wins a trophy in his second season as Spurs boss, this might signal to Romero that they are an ambitious club again. However, it is a big ask.

The last time that Tottenham won a trophy was in 2008. Not to throw water over their fireworks but even that honour was only the English League Cup.

Cristian Romero is clearly a high achiever. He is an assured starter for both Tottenham and Argentina due to his tenacious defending style and eagerness to win every match.

Having tasted plenty of success with Argentina, Real Madrid fans can only hope that he is hungry to achieve more. It goes without saying but he has more chance of success at Real Madrid than Tottenham.
