Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has been proclaiming to the fans that he will be spending more than 150 million euros to sign a Galactico this summer. He told the fans that he would be bringing in a player on the level of Cristiano Ronaldo, Ricardo Kaka, or Zinedine Zidane, which, naturally, piqued the interest of Madridistas whose only Galactico of the 2020s was the free transfer of Kylian Mbappe in 2024.
Most assumed Real Madrid would be going for Perez's new obsession, Michael Olise, who is a prime Ballon d'Or candidate after breaking Lionel Messi's single season assist record and then tearing up Real Madrid in the Champions League knockouts. But doubt began to seep in as Real Madrid starting making overtures to Atletico Madrid for their star striker Julian Alvarez, a far less enticing proposition than the Bayern Munich right winger.
But for Real Madrid fans disappointed in Olise only being a smoke screen, it turns out that the chase for Olise is not over and that he was indeed the Galactico that Florentino Perez was referencing in the media.
Real Madrid are nearly going to match the Neymar record
According to a report from MARCA, via Madrid Xtra, Real Madrid are planning to go back to Bayern Munich and submit an even bigger mega transfer offer to the Bundesliga giants for Michael Olise this summer. The expected transfer fee offered? A whalloping 220 million euros, which is even more than what Real Madrid were offering PSG for Kylian Mbappe back in 2021. The 220 million euros would nearly tie the record breaking 222 million euros PSG paid to Barcelona for Neymar back when he was the best player in the world not named Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo (and would, at one point, outplay them in a calendar year).
When Florentino goes after someone, he really goes after them. He was obsessed with Mbappe and did not rest until he finally got him from PSG despite all the things PSG said about him never leaving, and he is prepared to do the same again for his French national teammate Olise, who had an even better 2025/26 season than Mbappe.
Real Madrid would have the most unfair front three on paper in the world if Olise were to join Vinicius Junior and Mbappe, and that is probably what Florentino is going for here. Instead of breaking apart Vini and Mbappe, he feels they just need a better right winger than, say, Franco Mastantuono, to fully unlock this attack.
