Real Madrid are attracted to a promising Premier League midfielder they don't need

It's safe to say that this season for Real Madrid has failed to live up to the hefty expectations fans had when it first started. A Spanish Super Cup final loss, Champions League elimination in the quarterfinals, a Copa del Rey final loss, and what looks like an unlikely La Liga winning campaign is no doubt not what fans were expecting in the beginning.

This disappointment can be attributed to a number of factors but one of the obvious reasons is player performances. Many of the club's top players have failed to deliver good and consistent performances across the season which has cost the team key results in every competition.

One area of the pitch that has been underwhelming is the midfield. This is somewhat of a surprise given the sheer amount of talent in Real Madrid's midfield but even the most talented players have been in a slump this season.

With these lack of solid performances, Real Madrid are reported to be looking at potential options in the transfer window this summer, and they have reportedly added one of the Premier League's top midfielders to their wishlist.

Real Madrid showing interest in €45 million rated Premier League midfielder

As reported by Marca, Real Madrid are eyeing Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali among others as they are assessing their options to bolster their midfield in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The Italian midfielder has become a key player in the Premier League side since his arrival in the summer of 2023. So far this season Tonali has made 41 appearances registering five goals and three assists being one of the key parts in Newcastle's Carabao Cup victory and current third place standing in the Premier League.

However, any potential move for Tonali will be no easy feat that's for sure. He is under contract with the Premier League side until 2028 and they won't want to let go of their ace midfielder after an impressive season, with Champions League football on the horizon for them next season.

Add on top of that the reported €45 million value place on Tonali, Real Madrid would be better off working with the talented midfielders they already have at the club.

The player is good but not worth the value. It is better that Madrid keep the money and invest in actual talents who are available on demand.
