Real Madrid are in the midst of building a squad loaded with some of the best talent from all across the globe to secure a successful future for many years to come.

The squad already contains some of the best players in the world but the club is always looking to recruit more players every transfer window.

One place that Real Madrid are looking to recruit in the coming transfer windows is in the defense. With father time starting to catch up to Dani Carvajal, and faith in Ferland Mendy starting to dwindle, the club have been looking at fullback options to come in and help lead the next generation of Real Madrid.

For many the ideal long term left-back candidate has been Bayern Munich's Alphonso Davies. The Canadian international has been one of the top left-backs in Europe over the last number of seasons which has drawn interest from many of the top clubs in Europe.

Over the summer it seemed destined that Davies would end up at Real Madrid, however in recent months it seems that things have changed which has caused Real Madrid to assess their stance on any future transfer move.

As being reported by Madrid Universal, Real Madrid are starting to consider pulling out of the race to sign Alphonso Davies this summer as the player is looking more and more likely to extend his contract with the German club.

Real Madrid have been eyeing the possibility to sign Davies on a free transfer for well over a year, but the club are beginning to get frustrated with the lack of response from the 24-year-old fullback and are now looking to back out of any potential deal.

Bayern Munich have been working hard to convince the Canadian to renew his contract and with Davies being a key part of Vincent Kompany's project, it seems that Alphonso Davies won't be going anywhere anytime soon.
