Real Madrid lost all three Spanish titles this season to their main rivals Barcelona. No Real Madrid fan wants to recall the devastating defeats they suffered in these four El Clasicos.
Moving ahead to the upcoming season, Madrid are undergoing a complete revamp. With a new manager and several new signings, Madrid have a tremendous plan in place.
The Catalan club is also preparing a massive summer window, and Espanyol sensation Joan Garcia is one of their top targets to sign this season following the decline in form of Marc-André ter Stegen.
They are said to have made the goalkeeper their main goal this summer, but Real Madrid have added a twist to the story.
According to Diario AS, Real Madrid have established contact with Garcia and informed him that they are keeping an eye on him and may make a move if Andriy Lunin decides to go.
Real Madrid might just brutally spoil Barcelona's summer transfer plans
Joan García is quite popular at Real Madrid. They've been keeping an eye on him for over a year. The trouble is that they're not alone. Rivals Barcelona are clearly interested in the goalkeeper, as are Newcastle and Arsenal.
His quality is undeniable, and Madrid would want to join the race for his signature depending on the situation with Lunin.
The Ukrainian is contemplating his future and may be closer than ever to leaving due to all of the valid grounds of a lack of minutes. And I do not blame any of the parties for this.
Thibaut Courtois is too competent to sit on the bench, even at his age, and Lunin is too good not to play. It is evident that he deserves far more minutes than he has received in previous years. As of now, there's nothing concrete and Lunin might end up staying instead.
If Lunin does really open the door, Madrid will enter the Garcia race, although it may be too late, according to AS. Garcia is currently worth over $25 million, and if Lunin's exit brings in around $20 million, finances will no longer be an issue.
