Real Madrid’s season has been plagued by injuries to key players, resulting in the team finishing the campaign without any major trophies. Dani Carvajal and Eder Militao were among those who missed the most number of games while being on the sidelines.

Carvajal has been out since October last year and has appeared in just 11 matches this season, whereas Militao has been sidelined since November and has featured in 17 games.

Hopefully, the worst is over for the Merengues, and it looks like they can finally breathe a sigh of relief as both Dani Carvajal and Eder Militao are nearing full recovery from their respective ACL injuries. Both the defenders have recently started some light training on the field which is encouraging.

Their return comes at a crucial time, with the squad preparing for upcoming FIFA Club World Cup. Real Madrid are set to travel to the United States of America for the tournament featuring 32 teams. Both Carvajal and Militao are expected to travel with the team. However, according to reports, neither of the two stars is likely to feature in any of the matches during the competition.

Carvajal and Militao unlikely to feature in any FIFA Club World Cup matchups

Real Madrid insider Jorge C. Picon recently posted on X regarding the chances of the duo playing in the Club World Cup. According to him, both Carvajal and Militao will travel to the USA, but the club doesn’t want either of them to play. The club is not willing to take any risks and prefers that they only take part in team training sessions. Los Blancos aim to have both players at 100% for next season which explains their decision.

Real Madrid have already brought in Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dean Huijsen as reinforcements to bolster their defense. As a result, there’s no real need to rush Carvajal and Militao’s recovery and risk another injury.

It will be interesting to see how the team performs in the Club World Cup, given the arrival of new players and, most importantly, the appointment of Xabi Alonso as the new manager.
