Real Madrid have not been quiet when it comes to looking for defensive reinforcements ahead of the summer transfer window in just a few months. The club have been struggling with a worrying amount of defensive injuries over the last number of seasons which has cost the team key results each year.

Eder Militao and Dani Carvajal are currently sidelined for the remainder of the season with ACL injuries and Antonio Rudiger has also seen his share of time on the sideline with injuries. Raul Asencio is the only central defender who hasn't suffered an injury so far this season.

This amount of injuries would be worrying to any club, but it is especially worrying for Real Madrid given the shocking lack of defensive reinforcements currently at the club, Real Madrid have been strategically drawing up a list of defenders ahead of the summer transfer window. And according to recent reports, Real Madrid have reignited their interest in a former transfer target.

Cristian Romero is good, but would it make sense for Real Madrid to go for him?

As being reported by TEAMTalk, Real Madrid are considering a move for Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero. The 26-year-old World Cup winner is being described as a "concrete possibility" as Los Blancos are prioritizing signing a center-back in the summer.

The Argentine has been a crucial figure in Ange Postecoglou's setup at Tottenham this season, while his performances have been inconsistent at times, his physicality and intensity make him an appealing option for Real Madrid.

However there are a few roadblocks in the way when it comes to securing his transfer. Romero is under contract with the Premier League side until 2027, and Tottenham will not be keen to let him go without a fight. He also has a transfer value of around €65 million, which sounds like a steep price to pay for a player who may not be a regular starter when everyone returns from injury.
