Real Madrid have been drawing up a shopping list of midfielder targets ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window as the club is still searching for the perfect Toni Kroos replacement. The list is filled with some of the best midfielders in the world, however unfortunetely for Real Madrid they are not the only club showing interest in these midfielders, with stiff competition coming in the for of Manchester United.
As being reported by ESPN, Manchester United are hot on the tail of Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes as well as Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton as the Premier League side is looking to reshape their midfield in the summer transfer window just as Los Blancos are planning to.
Real Madrid face competition from Man United for two midfield targets
Los Blancos and the Red Devils have history of players going from one club to the other and it has always been a respectful relationship between the two clubs, but now the two are expected to go head to head as both clubs look to reclaim the spot of 'Best club in the World'.
Real have long been linked with a move for Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton as the views him as the perfect replacement for Kroos and Modric. His wide passing range and tempo controlling ability is exactly what the club are looking for however his €100 million price tag could prove to be a roadblock, as Real has other transfers on their mind in addition to a midfielder.
And unfortunetly for Los Blancos the same goes for Guimaraes. The Brazilian has stamped his name as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League, and on paper looks like the perfect replacement for Kroos but Newcastle have slapped a similar €100 million price on the player, which would make his signing difficult in the summer with the club still looking to bring in multiple defenders on top of a midfielder.
Losing either of these transfers to United would be a major blow to Real Madrid, however the club could already have their midfielder for the future already at the club. 18-year-old Castilla midfielder Thiago Pitarch has broken into the first team as a starter under Arbeloa, and has looked at home under the brightest lights of Real Madrid. The teenager is expected to be fully promoted to the senior team showing the belief the manager and the club has in the player so spending hundreds of millions on a signing may not be necessary in the summer, especially when the club already has the likes of Jude Bellingham, Aurelian Tchouameni, Fedi Valverde, and Arda Guler in the squad.
